점차 과열경쟁을 일으키고 있는 USB 플래쉬 메모리에 초소형 바람이 강하게 불고 있다.
일본 Adtec사는 초소형의 USB 플래쉬 메모리 인텔리전트 스틱을 3월 하순 발매한다.
인텔리전트 스틱의 본체 사이즈는 가로 18× 세로 43× 두께 2.8mm이며 중량은 2.8g에 불과한 초소형 USB 플래쉬 메모리이다.
용량별로 3가지 모델이 출시되며 각각 예상 가격은 32 MB 용량의 AD-UIS32M가 2,480엔 정도, 64 MB 용량의 AD-UIS64M가 3,980엔 정도, 128 MB 용량의 AD-UIS128M가 6,480엔 정도로 예정되어 있다.
지원되는 OS는 Windows 98 SE/Me/2000/XP, Mac OS 등 거의 웬만한 OS에서 사용이 가능하며 Windows 98 SE이외에는 드라이버의 인스톨이 불필요하다.
인터페이스는 USB 1.1이며 노트북의 전원으로 동작한다. 본체에는 기록방지용 스위치와 액세스 확인 LED를 갖추고 있으며 카드형태의 케이스가 부속되어 있다.
인텔리전트 스틱은 간단히 지갑속에 넣어 휴대할 수 있을 정도로 작고 가벼워 USB 외부 저장 매체 시장에 또다른 바람을 일으킬 것으로 보인다.
