AMD는 데스크톱, 소형 폼팩터, 홈씨어터 PC를 위한 2 세대 AMD A시리즈 APU를 출시했다고 발표했다. 이번에 출시된 APU는 합리적인 가격대에 외장형급 그래픽, 멀티 코어 및 빠른 프로세서의 PC로 업그레이드를 하고자하는 조립 PC 소비자와 일반 게이머, 조립 PC 판매 업체를 대상으로 한 제품이다.
2세대 데스크톱용 AMD A 시리즈 APU는 비슷한 가격대의 경쟁 제품과 비교했을 때, 더 많은 코어와 더 빠른 속도, 동급 최강의 엔터테인먼트 경험과 안정된 소켓 인프라를 기반으로 한 용이한 업그레이드 경로를 제공한다.
AMD APU 사용자들은 AMD 앱존(App Zone)과 이 새로운 APU의 연산 능력을 최대로 활용하는 많은 수의 가속화된 애플리케이션을 이용할 수 있다. 또한 보다 생생한 경험을 전달하는 AMD 라데온™ 그래픽의 DirectX® 11과 AMD 아이피니티(Eyefinity) 기술의 하드웨어 가속 지원으로, AMD A 시리즈 APU는 세간의 기대를 받고 있는 마이크로소프트의 윈도우® 8과 윈도우® 7 운영체제로 구동하는 시스템에 이상적인 솔루션으로 기대되고 있다.
레슬리 소본(Leslie Sobon) AMD 데스크톱 및 부품 제품 부문 기업 부사장은 “이번에 출시된 AMD A 시리즈 APU는 최고의 가격대비성능을 갖춘 새로운 데스크톱 및 홈씨어터 PC를 찾는 이들에게 완벽한 제품”이라고 말하며, “2 세대 AMD A시리즈 APU의 처리 속도, 멀티 연산 코어, 외장형급 그래픽 성능의 조합은 게이머와 조립 PC 사용자 모두에게 최고의 플랫폼을 선사한다”고 강조했다.
용이한 업그레이드 경로
2 세대 데스크톱용 AMD A 시리즈 APU는 AMD의 차세대 “파일드라이버(Piledriver)” CPU 아키텍처와 AMD 라데온™ HD 7000 시리즈 그래픽을 새로운 FM2 마더보드 인프라에 결합해, 향후 업그레이드 기능과 함께, 수많은 새로운 기능과 뛰어난 비주얼 경험을 함께 전달하고 있다.
칩셋 옵션은 AMD A55, A75, A85X세 가지로 조금씩 다른 기능들을 지원하고 있으며, FM2소켓이 장착된 마더보드에서 이용할 수 있다. 세 개의 칩셋은 AMD 메모리 프로파일을 지원해 그래픽 메모리를 1866 MHz로 구동하고 보다 빠른 성능을 위해 부스트 시, 최대 266MHz까지 더 높일 수 있다.
