In terms of the look and design, Inspire 1 and Voyager 3 stand out among other quadcopter drones. While the Inspire features a slim body style, the Voyager takes on a more bulky, masculine image. Compared to animals, the Inspire resembles a coy cat. By contrast, the Voyager resembles a mischievous dog.

The quadcopters use two sets of identical fixed pitched propellers, two clockwise and two counter-clockwise. As Inspire 1 rises off the ground, the arms with the propellers and landing gear are raised up so that the camera sits down below. Because the width of the power axle and landing gear are the same, the Inspire is able to maneuver smoothly at ascent and descent.

Voyager 3 has separate propeller arms and landing gear. There are two landing gears on the front side and one on the backside, which all retract and fold out during takeoff and landing. The width of the landing gear is more narrow than the power axle and the three arm structure compromises stability at ascent and descent.

Both Inspire 1 and Voyager 3 come with white top shell, however, Voyager 3 has an optional black cover in carbon fiber finish. The Voyager 3 black top shell is not real carbon but reinforced plastic with black carbon finish. This is because real carbon fiber can interfere with GPS signal reception and flight stability.

The black top shell has a slight surface roughness. Compared to the white cover, the black adds more character to the body. On the backside, there are five indicator lamps for power, flight controller status, and GPS signal reception. When the five indicators light up, the aircraft is ready to fly.

With the battery in place, you turn on the button on the upper left side of the battery then press the power button for 2 to 3 seconds. There are four indicators on the backside of the battery showing the battery life.
